Ignite Portland Submission
I just submitted the following proposal for a five minute presentation at Ignite Portland 6.
Clairvoyance and Astral Projection: When My Mom Found My Porn Hard science doesn’t really support either para-psychological phenomena, but a 1982 incident in an 8th grade algebra class made a believer out of me. I had a total out-of-body experience the moment my mother found my porn, miles away in...

Current Notebook via Evernote →
Testing snapshots of journal pages, hosting them on Evernote. The number is the page number, the parenthetical text is the topic (or sketch or one act play). This can be handy when I need to go back through old journals and can’t dig them out.

Updated: A Year with SONOS
I purchased a SONOS bundle one year ago so that I could stream music to different parts of my condo. Fortunately, I had a receiver and unused speakers so the cost of entry wasn’t as bad as it could be for some folks. At $999, the bundle price has remained unchanged, and my verdict is that it’s been worth every penny.
When I was considering purchasing the bundle, my main fear was that...

Refinance Conundrum →
For those of us with good credit and a history of paying our bills on time, it’s not really a conundrum…the banks don’t even want to talk to us.
The numbers in this article almost describe my very situation.

Beer Monocle (an excerpt, mid-scene)
INT. HONKY TONK BAR - NIGHT
EDWARDIAN ONE
A beer monocle. Look, I’ll show you.
Edwardian One takes a monocle from his pocket, and fits it into his eye.
EDWARDIAN ONE (CONT’D)
You see, the monocle allows my one eye to look upon the ladies with lowered standards.
EDWARDIAN TWO
His other eye remains free to scan the room for angry husbands and fathers.
GOOD OLD BOY
Beer goggles ain’t literal things...

Seattle Utilikilt Purchase (Snippet)
Clerk: You've shrunk. Here's a smaller size.
Me: Cool. Where's the dressing room?
Clerk: Yer in it?
Me: Cool. (I then proceed to take my pants off in front of other customers)

Some Thoughts About Paul
I knew Paul for a short time, only two years, and, while I didn’t get to spend nearly as much time with him that I would have liked, here are a few things I will remember about him.
He was at opening night for every play during my run at PAC.
He always handed me a glass of wine, and never let it go empty.
He brought folks to PAC that never would have come otherwise.
He always elevated the...

Updated: Why I Will Let My PICA Membership Lapse
In an article from today’s Oregonian, PICA is the only arts organization (out of thirteen) that refused to give hard numbers regarding their financial well-being. To which organization would you send a check…the one that says “here’s our reality” or the one that says “we won’t tell you our reality?”
Will they miss my $40? No.
